Lars Rood grew up in Washington State and graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a BA in Political Science and Secondary Education. The day he graduated he moved to Southern California to work at Forest Home Camp and also became a High School Teacher. He accepted his first full time youth ministry job at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena.
Lars graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with an M.Div focused on Youth and Family Ministry. He became the Youth Director at BelAir Presbyterian Church. After three kids were born and a couple years in San Diego the Roods moved to Dallas Texas where Lars worked at Highland Park Presbyterian Church and then when he was ordainable he accepted a call to Bellevue Presbyterian Church back where he grew up in Washington state. Along the way Lars went back to school to George Fox Seminary and received a Doctorate focusing on Semiotics and Future Studies.
In October of 2015 Lars went back into the classroom and began teaching at Redmond High School. He also began working part-time at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church as a Youth Director and also fulfilled a long time dream of becoming a barista by working very part-time at Starbucks (Mostly for the discounts and to learn something new)
Lars also doesn’t take himself too seriously, thinks he sounds a bit boring here and wonders why he has written this whole about page in the third person. 🙂
